Now that everyone is looking for liquidity, generation of cash flow is a key issue for any company. But, what cash flow are we talking about? Where does this cash flow come from? What can any manager do to generate cash flow?

Consider the case of Iceland. For reasons well known, Iceland’s banking system has collapsed amid the global credit crunch. The country’s currency, the krona, has lost half its value since January. Banking transactions to and from the island nation in the middle of the North Atlantic have seized up, leaving its population of 320,000 virtually stranded.

Now that the conference of next November 15th to discuss reforms to the international financial system is coming, there is a debate about whether the international economy needs a new financial system.

At the end of october I was in New Hampshire attending the annual meeting of the North American Case Research Association (NACRA) http://www.nacra.net/nacra/.

This year NACRA cellebrated its 50th anniversary. I presented there a new case on the finance track. The case won the Ruth Greene Memorial Case Award to the best case for a non american author.
